National Pecan Shellers Association (NPSA), in partnership with the University of Georgia (UGA), will be hosting a Pecan Processing Computer Vision Technology Workshop in Irving, Texas on December 1-2, 2026. 1431 Greenway Dr., Irving, Texas 75308.
The workshop will showcase UGA’s work and provide hands on training in computer vision technology for pecan processing. The workshop will train industry employees to use the system, as well as provide resources and materials for attendees to implement in their facilities.
This and additional post-harvest research work, initiated and coordinated by NPSA, is funded through legislative efforts with the National Pecan Federation. The funding to USDA-ARS, UGA, and Fort Valley State means research is consistently being conducted to improve pecan processing, cracking, food safety, shelf-life, and more. For more information about the ongoing research, visit https://pecanresearch.uga.edu/.
The event will be held at the American Pecan Council/American Pecan Promotion Board office near the DFW Airport. Lunch and refreshments will be provided both days. Hotel accommodations and transportation are not provided, but there are a number of hotels in the area.
